The Limerick Tunnel is an immersed Tube Tunnel comprised of 5 elements each
100m in length.
Tunnel Construction Details
The construction the Tunnel is carried out in the following phases
| Phase 1 : Pre-casting | |

The Tube Tunnel elements are constructed in a linear casting basin. |
| Phase 2 : Dredge, Float and Immerse | |
 |
The river channel is dredged and the casting basin is flooded. |
 |
The Tube elements are then floated into the channel. |
 |
The Tube elements are then immersed. |
| Phase 3 : Construct Cut and Cover Tunnel Portals | |

Build the cut and cover tunnel portals connected to the tunnel |
